Adıyaman Community Mental Health Center (CMHC)
Community and Mental Health Centers are the cornerstone of the Community-Based Mental Health Model, aiming to provide medical follow-up, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society for individuals with mental disorders without requiring hospital admission.
🎯 Primary Objective and Scope of the Center
Target Population: Individuals with chronic mental disorders such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizoaffective Disorder.
Core Vision: To prevent social isolation of patients, reduce loss of functional capacity, and promote social integration by decreasing the frequency of hospitalizations.
🛠️ Services Provided
Individual and Group Therapies: Psychosocial skills training and illness management (psychoeducation).
Mobile Services (Outreach Team): Home and workplace visits for patients unable to attend the center for on-site follow-up/treatment.
Employment Support: Guidance for preparation for the Public Personnel Selection Exam for Disabled Individuals (EKPSS) and assistance in job placement.
Occupational Therapies: Handicrafts, music, painting, and sports activities in collaboration with Public Education Centers and other vocational institutions.
📋 Registration and Admission Process
Pre-Assessment: Evaluation of patients diagnosed in hospital psychiatry outpatient clinics or previously diagnosed individuals.
Registration: Eligible patients are registered at the center, assigned a “Case Consultant,” and the registration process is completed to initiate services.
Service Plan: A personalized follow-up and rehabilitation plan is created for each patient.

Psychosocial Support: Individual counseling, group therapies, and education for patient relatives.
Education and Employment: Support for high school and university graduate patients in preparing for the EKPSS exam and gaining employment.
Social Rights: Monitoring of patients’ rights through social service specialists.
🎨 Social and Artistic Activities
Activities are organized to enhance patients’ self-confidence and productivity:
Handicrafts: Painting, marbling (ebru), wood painting, sculpture, upcycling of materials, etc.
Sports: Table tennis, volleyball, and various external sports activities.
Cultural Events: Cinema, picnics, etc.
Celebrations: Birthday events for patients and staff, music events, karaoke, etc.
Important Note: As of 2026, CMHCs are not merely hobby centers; they are professional healthcare units where comprehensive care plans are implemented—from medication adherence to social rights, family education, and employment.
