A Significant Step Forward in Women’s Health: The HSG Unit Is Now in Service
27.01.2026

Our HSG Unit is Now Open for Service

Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Can Nacar, MD, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at our hospital, announced that a significant gap in our services has been filled with the official opening of the HSG (Hysterosalpingography) unit.

Stating that HSG, commonly known as a uterine X-ray, is a diagnostic method used to visualize the uterus and fallopian tubes via X-ray imaging with contrast medium, Assoc. Prof. Nacar emphasized that it remains the “gold standard” for evaluating tubal patency and identifying potential intrauterine barriers to pregnancy in women seeking to conceive.

“Our Women Can Now Access This Service in Their Own City”

Assoc. Prof. Nacar noted that the procedure typically takes 5–10 minutes and that most patients can return to their daily routines immediately. He added:

“Previously, our patients had to travel to neighboring provinces or external centers for this procedure. This was both a financial burden and a significant waste of time. Now, our women can access this service in their own city, in a familiar and trusted environment, without long waiting periods. By accelerating the diagnostic process, we are able to initiate treatment much sooner.”

Highlighting that HSG is used not only for infertility evaluations but also to investigate the causes of recurrent miscarriages, intrauterine adhesions, or congenital uterine abnormalities, Dr. Nacar also mentioned a therapeutic benefit: the contrast medium used during the procedure can sometimes clear minor tubal blockages, increasing the chances of natural conception in the months following the procedure.

“Health Cannot Be Put on Hold”

Stating that women dreaming of motherhood should not delay this examination due to fear or accessibility issues, Dr. Nacar said:
“We are now here for you with our modern equipment and expert team. Patients can schedule an appointment at our outpatient clinics, where the most suitable date for the procedure will be determined after a medical examination. Our doors are open to all women; I wish our community a healthy life.”

“Uterine X-ray Services Commenced as of Today”

Prof. Kasım Turgut, MD, Chief Physician of our hospital, announced that HSG (uterine X-ray) services—previously unavailable at the facility—have officially commenced as of today.

Expressing that this long-awaited service is now a reality for our citizens, Prof. Turgut stated:
“I would like to highlight that the launch of this service addresses a critical healthcare need and closes a major gap in Adıyaman. Thanks to the HSG unit, patients will no longer have to travel to neighboring provinces to access this diagnostic method. I would like to extend my gratitude to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for their efforts in bringing this service to fruition.”
