A First in Adıyaman Through Multidisciplinary Surgery: Endoscopic Pituitary Surgery Successfully Performed
We restored the health of our patient, who developed vision loss due to a pituitary tumor, through the joint efforts of our Neurosurgery and Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) teams. Thanks to the endoscopic endonasal method applied through the nasal cavity, a significant improvement was achieved in our patient's vision in the early postoperative period.
This operation was performed through the multidisciplinary collaboration of Prof. Dr. Şeyho Cem Yücetaş and Specialist Physician Ozan Yavuz Tüfek from our Neurosurgery team, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehtap Koparal, Specialist Physician Emirhan Akyol, and Resident Physician Ahmet Demir from our Department of Otorhinolaryngology.
This modern method provides the opportunity to intervene in tumors in the pituitary region without making any external incision. Through the joint efforts of our teams, while safely accessing the tumor, we aim to preserve our patients' nasal anatomy, respiratory and olfactory functions to the maximum extent.
This operation is of great importance as one of the first examples of endoscopic pituitary surgery performed through the collaboration of two specialties in Adıyaman. We thank our Chief Physician, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tepe, and his team for providing all necessary support for the successful implementation of such advanced surgical procedures in our province. By continuing current surgical techniques and the multidisciplinary approach in our region, we will continue to provide our patients with the safest and highest-quality healthcare services.
